Nutrition plays an important role in an active lifestyle. Of course, you can eat everything tasty, and you don’t need to go to extremes for the sake of good physical shape. At the same time, it might be interesting to know what healthy alternatives can be add to our diet and to see our favorite dishes from a different angle.

This week we share ideas on how to use cauliflower in a variety of dishes. Cauliflower is healthy; this cruciferous vegetable is rich in minerals, vitamins, fiber, etc. The high fiber content promotes digestive activity, so cauliflower is also great choice for those who want to lose weight.

The entire cabbage family is quite low-calorie, but filling – so eat as much as you want! The easiest way is to eat cauliflower raw. That way we get a lot of vitamin C from this vegetable. However, thermally processed cauliflower can be used for very appetizing dishes. For example, have you made cauliflower rice or cauliflower pizza crust?

Making cauliflower “rice” is easy! Just grate the cauliflower and fry in a hot pan. We definitely recommend using grated garlic and herbs as a seasoning. We served our cauliflower rice with a spicy lentil curry, but it also makes a great accompaniment to classic sauce with ground beef etc. Let your fantasy run wild and try new flavors.

Another tip to make cauliflower more appetizing: turn it into a pizza crust! All you need is cauliflower and an egg. Yes, you read it right. No flour, fat or yeast. To make a round pizza with a diameter of 28 cm, you will need:

  • 350 g grated cauliflower
  • 1 egg
  • some salt

How to make a pizza crust: thoroughly combine grated cauliflower and beaten egg and season. Spread the mixture on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and form into an even layer with your hands. Bake at 200°C for 20-30 minutes. The edges and bottom surface should be beautifully golden. When the base is ready, add your favorite pizza topping and place the backing sheet back in the oven for a short while! We topped our pizza crust with natural tomato paste, pieces of garlic, chili, tomato and paprika, and also added some olives and sun-dried tomatoes. Finally, we sprinkled some grated cheese.

Healthy food is delicious!

I always loved to cook healthy and delicious food. When I studied to be a nutrition consultant, I learned more about the effects of food on the body. It was a very educational period, and I had a growing desire to share my new knowledge. In the modern world, it is extremely important to be able to appreciate the quality of your food. I really hope I can inspire you a little and make food choices easier for everyone who wants it.
