Summer, stressful work or just lack of motivation – breaks in training are a completely natural part of life. Often, it is after a break that the question arises: why start again at all? The answer is that regular training affects not only our body shape and appearance, but above all our long-term health, the number of healthy years of life and general well-being.

Exercise as an investment in long-term health

Exercise affects not only the body, but also the mind. Movement reduces stress hormones like cortisol and releases endorphins, the feel-good hormones that improve our mood and give us energy. Regular exercise also improves sleep, which in turn increases our ability to concentrate and creates a positive mindset.

  • Regular training improves cardiovascular health.
  • Regular physical activity helps lower blood pressure, improve circulation, and keep cholesterol levels under control.
  • In the long term, this means a lower risk of cardiovascular diseases and more energy in daily life.
  • Training supports a person’s mental well-being.

When we feel low on energy, regular exercise and sports increase our energy levels and performance. Although it may seem like exercise takes the energy away, it actually gives it. Physical activity strengthens muscles, improves oxygen uptake, and increases the body’s efficiency in performing everyday tasks. The result is more endurance, less fatigue, and increased productivity both at work and at home.

Everyday tasks will certainly be easier: for example, carrying shopping bags, climbing stairs, running and playing with children will become much easier with exercise!

It is also worth noting that exercise strengthens joints and bones. Strong muscles and elastic ligaments improve joint function and reduce the risk of injury. Regular exercise also helps maintain bone density, which is especially important in old age to prevent osteoporosis and fractures. Therefore, physical exercise is the best insurance for the future if we want to stay mobile and active.

In addition to all of the above, regular physical activity has a positive effect on brain function. Exercise has a surprisingly powerful effect on our brain. Physical activity improves blood flow to the brain, which means more oxygen and nutrients for nerve cells. This improves memory, concentration, and learning ability.

Exercise also promotes the formation of new brain cells and neural connections, a process called neurogenesis. This is important for both the development of children and adolescents, and for maintaining mental alertness in adults. Research has shown that regular exercise can also reduce the risk of dementia and Alzheimer’s disease and help keep the brain “young” throughout life!

Why start training again?

Even if it’s been months or years since your last workout, it’s never too late to start again. Training offers immediate visible and tangible results – already the first workouts can improve your well-being and sleep. In the long term, it’s a gift to yourself that will help you enjoy an active and healthy life at any age.

MyFitness – more than just workouts

The training also includes recovery and relaxation, which are just as important as the workout itself. At MyFitness you will find everything you need:

  • A variety of workouts to choose from – from gym and group trainings to yoga and swimming. We recommend adding variety to your workout plan with our schedule – take advantage of the opportunity to participate in both strength and endurance training and also add in more gentle body and mind activities or a visit to the pool. This way, you will load your body on many different levels and make your workouts more interesting.
  • Recovery options: saunas, pools and relaxation areas to help restore body and mind. After a workout, it’s especially nice to visit the relaxing sauna or spa areas that are available at some MyFitness clubs.
  • Support and motivation – personal trainers help you stay consistent and motivated. At MyFitness, you’ll find experienced and supportive personal trainers who will support and motivate you to reach your goals! You can also join small group personal training programs where you’ll find great training partners and work out in a close-knit group, all under the guidance of a personal trainer.
